When I first painted this as a Sci-fi book cover back in the 80s, when I was painting mostly illustrations, I knew I liked this idea and wished I had thought of it myself. Drift glass is glass that is washed up onto the shore from the ocean, except here it is in reverse; The ocean is coming out of the broken glass. Not sure what it means, but visually I think it is intriguing. -JW
