Chiarographs - (pronounced "keer-ograph") is a fusion of traditional printmaking and the latest digital technology. First, a substrata of white sizing (paint) is applied by hand to black heavy weight paper stock. Then, the image is printed onto this white sizing. The characteristic of the medium is unique because each piece has a unique pattern onto which the image adheres. Thus, no two prints are identical. The beauty of this media is also in its spontaneity and its combination of printmaking and painting.
