"Rock stars such as The Beatles, Janis Joplin and Black Sabbath, among countless others, adopted the famed peace symbol long before the legendary devil horns. A rock star flashing the peace symbol has become as much a part of rock n’ roll imagery as anything else I can think of. For that reason, this piece fits perfectly in to what I try to accomplish with my Rogue series.
There is, however, a secondary reason for this painting. As I was preparing for an event in Southern California with the famed rock n’ roll clothing brand, John Varvatos, I started thinking of a piece to honour the occasion. Probably for much of the same reason as I stated above, the JV brand has often adopted both the peace sign image as well as a star for branding purposes. I decided that taking a Stickman style realism approach to these classic symbols would be a perfect intersection of the Stickman brand as well as the John Varvatos brand.
Due to the unique inspiration behind this piece, it has a slightly different feel than most of my pieces. Forgoing my usual loose gritty style in favour of straight clean lines, this piece looks as unique in my catalog as the opportunity it was created for." -Stickman
